STORY 2

Brian: So, Lisa, are you a photographer at your magazine?

Lisa: No, not at all. I started out as a proofreader and assistant editor, but recently I have been doing work outside the office, organizing photo shoots and that kind of thing.

Katie: That is how we met. She came into the PR department to borrow some clothes from our spring/summer collection to use for a photo shoot. I helped her coordinate clothes for the shoot, and I wound up going along for the shoot in the end.

Brian: Did you meet Jason as well?

Lisa: No, who is that?

Katie: Jason is the main graphic designer at our company. He does all the photography and design for our product catalogues and things like that.

Brian: He also happens to be an old friend of mine.

Katie: But you didn't meet him the day you came around to our company, Lisa. I think he was off doing a photo shoot that day.

Lisa: Oh, well you will have to introduce me to him sometime. I'm really interested in photography.

Brian: Did you say you are getting into photography at your work?

Lisa: No, I have just been helping out organizing some photo shoots for the magazine. Basically, I am an editorial assistant, but I would love to get into writing for the magazine. I'm interested in photography as well, but I am not sure I have the technical knowledge to do that kind of job.

Katie: You know, It couldn't be that hard to learn. No one is born being a great photographer. Everyone learns it at some point.

Lisa: Yes, I suppose so. But I think the next step for me is writing. I'd really like to start writing some articles for the magazine.

Katie: Why do you say that?

Lisa: I think it would just be more fun than sitting in the office. You know, going out and interviewing fashion designers and that sort of thing sounds really fun, don't you think?

Katie: Yeah, of course so. I hope you have the chance to do that.

Brian: And what do you do in your free time, Lisa?

Lisa: I've only been working for the magazine for about a year, so I'm still trying to learn about the industry. On weekends, I like to go out and buy an armload of fashion magazines, go to a nice cafe, and just spend the day poring over them. It makes me feel more confident in my work, to know what is going on in other magazines.

Katie: Wow, you sound pretty dedicated to your work.

Lisa: You really have to be, if you want to get anywhere.

Brian: I really work hard during the week, so on weekends, I really have to get outside: go for a jog or meet with a friend for a bit of basketball. If I don't do that, my mind doesn't seem to function the next week.

Katie: Yeah, Brian is always trying to get me to get up early and go jogging with him on the weekends, but I really can't get into it. I really have to relax on the weekends, so I will have the energy to go back to work on Monday.

Lisa: Exactly. There is nothing better than staying in bed on the weekends with a cup of tea and a good book or some magazines.

Katie: That's exactly how I feel.

Brian: While that certainly sounds nice, it is not exactly the way to stay in shape.

Katie: But I do go to yoga after work when I have time.

Lisa: Oh, you do yoga?

Katie: Yes. Do you?

Lisa: No, but I have been thinking I wanna get into it for a while.

Katie: Oh, really? Then you should come with me sometime.

Lisa: When do you usually go?

Katie: On Thursdays, after work, if I can. But I usually have to skip about once a month because I'm too busy with work.

Lisa: Thursdays? Sure I'd love to go with you.

Brian: There you go, then. That's something you two can do together and will also get you a bit of exercise.
