◆Let’s try the following exercises.

Q: Your friend tells you he just saw a monkey driving a car. What would you say?
A: How can that be?! You must be mistaken!

 


Q: Your friend tells you the news of a Japanese skier who just won the first prize at the World Cup. What would you say?
A: Wow! That’s amazing! I knew he would win.

 


Q: The TV news reports a boy who was missing in the desert for weeks but was found alive today. What would you say?
A: That’s incredible! He is so lucky.

Oh boy! / Oh dear!
I’m in trouble.
It’s terrible. / It’s awful. / It’s a disaster.

 

◆Let’s try the following exercises.

A: After you locked the car door, you noticed your car keys are left inside. What would you say?
B: Oh boy! What should I do?

 


Q: You went to a party at your friend’s house. Enjoying yourself, you realized you missed the last train. What would you say?
A: Oh, I’m in trouble! I missed the last train.

 


Q: You got a very bad grade in the Spanish class. Your friend asks you how your grade is. What would you say?
A: It’s a disaster. I should have studied harder!
